Can I be a Bible-believing Christian and believe in dinosaurs? They answer is ‘yes’. They are even mentioned in the Bible, by the name Dragon. Why was the term Dinosaur not used to describe these creatures? That’s because the term Dinosaur (meaning ‘terrible lizard’) was not invented until many years later. Did dinosaurs really go extinct millions of years ago? The numerous discoveries of intact soft tissue in their bones indicate that they lived only a few thousand years ago. Did Dinosaurs and man live together? The Bible says that land animals (that walked on all four), like dinosaurs, were created along with other animals during the creation week. That means that mankind would have seen these creatures!
I’ve been on paleontological digs and I’ve dug up the bones of these monsters that you see in the movies. They were REAL. But there’s a few things that we hear about these creatures that are not based on fact. Let’s see if I can go over a few:

- When I dig up the bones, I have never yet found a date stamped on one saying “deposited 65 million years B.C.” In fact, what’s getting a lot of attention within the scientific community these days is the discovery of soft tissue inside some of these bones. This soft tissue should not even last for 100 thousand years… much less the millions required for evolution.

- While we know that dinosaurs really did eat other animals (because we sometimes find other creatures in their stomachs), it doesn’t mean they were ferocious. In fact, sperm whales and warthogs and other creatures have long sharp teeth that look remarkably similar to the T-rex, but they aren’t carnivorous killing machines. Okay, so you still probably wouldn’t have wanted a pair of velociraptors as pets, but trying to describe their behavior from a bunch of bones takes quite a bit of speculation.

- You might have heard that the last dinos went extinct millions of years ago, but dating methods show huge discrepancies in the alleged ages of dinosaur remains. There’s something going on here. Recently, a dozen carefully collected and preserved samples of fossils and dinosaur remains were sent in for testing. Measurable amounts of Carbon 14 were found in every one of them! The maximum limit for C14 is 80 to 100 thousand years! The current evolutionary theories need at least 50 million. Maybe it’s time for a reevaluation?
So, are dinosaurs real? Sure, they’re real. They’re even found in the Bible! But dinosaur is a recent word, and until modern day, most people called dinosaurs, “dragons”. Dinosaur means terrible lizard, and while they certainly were very large lizards, we don’t know how terrible they actually were. But, they must have been a sight to behold! We often think of the term “dinosaur” as meaning prehistoric or ancient, but there are accounts all around the world of people fighting huge, terrible lizards and dragons.

65 MILLION YEAR OLD SOFT TISSUE?
In the video above I briefly mentioned the fact that soft tissue has been found in the remains of these elusive creatures. Soft tissue degrades quickly. It doesn’t last for millions of years. But if dinosaurs didn’t go extinct millions of years ago, then what happened to them?
In 2005, Dr. Mary Schweitzer shocked the scientific world when her team reported the presence of blood vessels, red blood cells, and collagen in a T-Rex femur. That’s right—soft tissue in a dinosaur bone!
This T-Rex was thought to be over 65 million years old and yet it had fresh soft tissue inside its bones. So, how is this possible? Well, if this dinosaur really did live millions of years ago there is no reason to believe soft tissue should still be present. Everything breaks down over time, and most soft tissues quickly degrade, even under ideal conditions. Until this discovery, most would agree that soft tissue shouldn’t remain preserved for more than a few thousand years. Yet, instead of admitting that perhaps dinosaurs aren’t as old as previously thought, some tried to brush it aside, basically saying “isn’t it amazing that soft tissue can survive for over 65 million years!”
And this T-Rex isn’t just some anomaly. Since her ground-breaking discovery in 2005, which thrust the idea of soft tissue in fossils into the limelight, scientists have been finding soft tissue in a variety of supposedly old fossils. In 2009 researchers found blood vessels in a supposedly 80-million-year-old hadrosaur, then, allegedly 150-million-year-old squid ink, and in 2010 a supposedly 360-million-year-old shrimp shell, complete with muscle, was uncovered. Lizard skin, and even partially mummified “pre-historic” creatures have been found in remarkably preserved states. How can these things last for millions of years? While some paleontologists are trying to explain it away, the short answer is… they can’t. Soft tissue degrades quickly. It doesn’t last for millions of years. But if dinosaurs didn’t go extinct millions of years ago, then what happened to them?
If we begin by taking Biblical history as fact, then we learn that the T-Rex with the soft tissue in its femur was roaming the earth thousands of years ago. Many dinosaurs went extinct in a cataclysmic deluge, a flood, and the fossil record still bears the trace of the animals that died out in the flood. Some of these creatures were preserved in such ideal conditions that even their soft parts were preserved. Soft tissue discovery is a game-changer and gives scientists just one more reason to look at the true history found in the book of Genesis.

Did dinosaurs roam the earth 65 million years ago? Echoes of the Jurassic shows new discoveries with evidence for creation and biblical accuracy of Genesis. It is true! In 2005, Dr. Mary Schweitzer and her research team reported one of the greatest paleontological discoveries in history. The scientific community was stunned, and many argued that it is not possible for there to still be soft and pliable tissue remaining in dinosaur bones. WHAT WAS BEHEMOTH IN THE BIBLE?
What was Behemoth? Was the creature that the Bible calls Behemoth really just an Elephant as many Bible commentators have suggested or have discoveries been made of a creature who really could have moved its tail like a cedar tree, just like the Biblical book of Job tells us?

Job 40 speaks of a massive creature that wandered the Earth in the past: “Behold now behemoth, which I made with thee; he eateth grass as an ox. Lo now, his strength is in his loins, and his force is in the navel of his belly.”
Some Bible commentators in the past have related this creature to elephants or hippopotamuses because truly, their large bodies do generate great strength. However, the commentators have been fairly criticized when context is taken into consideration. The passage goes on to say that the creature “moveth his tail like a cedar”. This definitely doesn’t fit any of the proposed animals alive today, which begs the question: “Does the Bible know best?”

Long story short, Dinosaurs do fit within a Biblical worldview and timeframe. Remnants of soft tissue in Dinosaur bones indicate that they lived as recently as only a few thousand years ago. Historical discoveries have been made to suggest that yes, dinosaurs and man really did co-exist on the Earth, validating the Biblical account in the book of Genesis that says that both land animals and man were created on day 6 of the Creation week. We see that the Elephant is not a good candidate for being the creature that the Bible refers to as Behemoth. Instead, discoveries have been made of a creature that perfectly fits the bill of a massive animal that could have moved its tail like a cedar tree, agreeing with the Biblical record found in the book of Job.
Next time a skeptic comes to you with questions about Dinosaurs and the Bible, you can use this information to counter with truth… lovingly but confidently… and can state that the Bible is true from beginning to end. Most scientific discoveries have been pointing that direction, and this includes Dinosaurs.
