Genesis chapter 1 says that animals are able to reproduce after their kind. There are 8 species of bears and all of them produce after their kind. This is how sub-species are created of different bears such as the Grolar Bear. If we are to read the Bible and believe then we will know that a bear and hippopotamus will not be able to reproduce. And, this expands to other species as well!
