What is man?

Most of us have been taught that we as humans are nothing more than a result of evolution. That millions of years ago, you and I were no more than tiny organisms swimming in a pond. There are those who want us to believe that in between then and now, we were hanging by our tail from trees, and eating ants out of the ground. That somehow, we got smarter and evolved into the human species.

While technology has increased, allowing us to do and learn more, we as humans, it seems, have done everything BUT get smarter. Wars still rage on today with the same intensity as 2,000 years ago. Lawlessness is in some cases even rewarded in society today. Governments still have the propensity to over-control and eventually collapse. Just as in the past, men still believe that they can be their own gods.

Even some Christians tell us that we can believe in evolution and God at the same time, but if we trust in the Bible as the literal Word of God, we know that this is not possible.

Who can be so bold to say that there is nothing special about the human race?

When we stop to consider the intricate mechanisms of the human body, it is nothing less than incredible.

In the book of Psalms we read:
“What is man, that thou art mindful of him? And the son of man, that thou visitest him? For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.” Psalms 8:4-5

King David praised the Lord, saying:
“I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works…” Psalms 139:14

In the New Testament, the book of Colossians tells us that:
“…All things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.” 1 Colossians 16-17

We are an important part of that creation. So important that:
“God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16
