“SCIENCE IS REAL!” That’s what atheists claim to shut down people who say God must be Creator. Whatever sticking point of impossibility they run up against—such as Spontaneous Generation—they will assure us that it’s only a matter of time before “science” solves it.
They will tell us we have FAITH and they have FACTS. They don’t need God because science provides all the answers to life’s big questions: Why am I here? Where am I going? What is the purpose of life? Why do things happen the way they do? Any time someone informs them that the Universe actually points to Someone extraordinarily brilliant designing it, they defend their position with facts, figures, and a confident assurance that THEY don’t rely on a “god of the gaps” like Christians do.
Even their positions on favorite social causes are defended and explained in scientific terms. The science shows they’re right!
Except when it doesn’t.
What happens when science tells us there is no moment after conception when a ‘fetus’—a child—becomes ‘alive’? What happens when science tells us a person is either male or female from the moment of conception and no hormone treatment or surgery can change that reality? What happens when every study done shows children and adults are happiest, healthiest, and most successful when they live by God’s commands and guidelines of behavior? Trust me, your doctor will never be sorry you lived such a life. What happens when science points to a watery death for practically every fossil we find? And when dinosaur and land animal fossils are found buried with marine creatures jumbled in with them? What happens when science shows that dinosaurs and other creatures (claimed to be fossilized millions of years ago) still have organic compounds and whole cells that have not decomposed? What happens when our telescopes can see light years farther out in space than they claim the Universe is old? And the galaxies we see out there are just as ‘mature’ as the ones nearby? What happens when the more we learn about genetics, epigenetics, and real-time adaptations shows how immensely complex the ‘simplest’ organism is?
When push comes to shove, it doesn’t take much insight to realize that the word “SCIENCE” is manipulated by those who won’t consider God and still need something to explain the universe.
We can praise and worship God and understand that science is an amazing way to recognize His genius for what it is. Christians are the true lovers of science.
